(SPOT.ph) Whether you're an avid anime fan or if you're just getting into the genre, there's no denying that Makoto Shinkai's 2016 film, Your Name (a.k.a. Kimi No Nawa) is a touching coming-of-age story that left hearts broken—before piecing it back together. Viewers fell in love with the characters, a high-school boy Taki from Tokyo and the high-school girl Mitsuha from the countryside, who wake up in each other's bodies. But aside from the heartwrenching story, viewers also enjoyed the amazingly stunning visuals seen in the film that were produced by CoMix Wave Films.
After watching the beautifully detailed work they made—with natural light coming through tall skyscrapers and filtering through trees—fans were eager to watch more of the studio's works. Now, they're finally getting it in the form of a new anime feature film called Flavors of Youth, which will be released on Netflix on August 4.
The story will be told through three chapters taking place in three different cities in China. Based on the trailer, there looks to be three main characters—two boys and one girl. According to Netflix, the film "explores the simple joys of life through sensual memories and how the beating heart of love cannot be defeated by the flow of time." If the amazing illustrations aren't enough reason, the mystery of the story gives you all the more reason to watch it when it comes out.
