(SPOT.ph) Instituto Cervantes, a non-profit organization created by the Spanish government, has been facilitating the promotion of Spanish language and culture in the country since its inception in 1991. It opened its current premises in Ayala Triangle, Makati in 2015, inspiring young professionals in the business district to take part in this inter-cultural exchange. But on May 8, the institute took things a step further with the inauguration of Instituto Cervantes Intramuros at Casa Azul in the Plaza San Luis Complex.

Made possible through a partnership with the Intramuros Administration, Casa Azul is a two-floor replica of a 19th-century Philippine housewhich is only apt for a representative of a foreign country that heavily influenced our architecture (and culture, in general). The new outpost features a 90-seater auditorium perfect for talks and performances, a 60-square-meter exhibition room, and classrooms for language classes and teacher training. Its upper floor hosts the Miguel Hernandez Library, which showcases over 30,000 reference materials related to Spanish and Latin American culture.

Instituto Cervantes Intramuros is at Casa Azul, Plaza San Luis Complex, General Luna corner Real Street, Intramuros, Manila. For more information, visit Instituto Cervantes' website.
