(SPOT.ph) Despite its sad and sometimes scary reputation, it seems like the MRT-3 is slowly getting back on track—the Department of Transportation today announced on Facebook that it has gone 22 days without any recorded service interruptions. Wow! Imagine that—22 whole days since the train system last broke down and passengers were forced to risk their lives walking on the train's railway to the nearest train station. Amazing!

Beating the previous record of 14 breakdown-free days in 2014, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) credits the ongoing 22-day glitch-free streak to the MRT-3's increased availability of trains. As of this week, up to 18 trains were up and running to cater to Manila's 250,000 daily commuters.

This good news comes just as the DOTr, in cooperation with the Japan International Cooperation Agency, announced plans to finally rehabilitate the railway system
