(SPOT.ph) With the traffic and pollution that plague Metro Manila, you would often associate the city with the gloomy colors of black and gray. Soot line the walls, mud fill up the gutter, and all kinds of dust swirl with the air that we breathe. But for Ralph Justin Ulep, a fourth year Communication student from Adamson University, reimagining the Metro as an anime film is possible.

"The artworks were all inspired by Makoto Shinkai's work," he reveals to SPOT.ph. He has always been a fan of the award-winning Japanese director, and lists down 5 Centimeters Per Second and Your Name (Kimi no Na wa) as his favorites.

All the artworks were rendered through Adobe Photoshop and custom brushes he made through the software. "I got curious on how Manila would look like in an anime setting," Ulep adds. We sure are glad that he did, and now we can take a refreshing look at the major highway that we've been trying to avoid.
