(SPOT.ph) These days, getting yourself out there is practically dependent on the all-important social-media photo, and some travel destinations are all about upping the ante. Dubai, the largest city in the United Arab Emirates, has just created a giant picture frame by building two 150-meter-high towers linked by an observation deck that's 93 meters wide. It's an engineering feat that opened to the public on January 1. From the outside, it beautifully frames the city's skyline; and from the glass bridge on the 48th floor, it gives sweeping views of the "Old Dubai" to the north and the "New Dubai" to the south.

The structure was designed by award-winning architect Fernando Donis, who was also behind the Porsche Design Towers and the Dubai Renaissance Tower. The mezzanine level lets visitors experience the Old Dubai through video projections, mist effects, and a gallery that showcases the city's history and evolution. From here, you can get on an elevator—designed by German company thyssenkrupp—that passes through a swirl tunnel with special effects to create the illusion of a space-time warp. When you reach the 48th floor, you can enjoy 360 degree views of Dubai and nearby towering structures like Burj Khalifa and the Burj Al Arab. The bridge can accommodate 200 visitors every hour.

Whoever said that picture frames are boring hasn't seen this one.

The Dubai Frame is at Zabeel Park, Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Tickets, priced at AED 50 (roughly P680), are available through Dubai Frame's website.
