(SPOT.ph) Taiwan may have implemented visa-free entry for Philippine passport holders in November 2017, but it has been a popular destination among Filipinos since 2016. This was concluded after Agoda, a hotel booking website, compared its data for December 2015 and December 2016 and identified Taipei (Taiwan) as the top vacation spot for Filipino travelers for that year.

The Taiwanese capital got a 191% increase in terms of Agoda hotel bookings from 2015 to 2016. Taiwan's local culture and lifestyle was also a major factor when it comes to enticing 60% of millennial Filipino travelers. The mountainous terrain, old mining towns, and art hotspots are quickly gaining traction. Not to mention the variety of street food options on every corner. There's a saying that in Taiwan, you only need to take three steps to find another food stall.
South Korea, specifically Seoul, follows suit with 96% growth rate in the span of one year. The Philippines' own tourist destinations complete the top 10 list: Bohol, Clark, Palawan, Iloilo, Subic, Cebu, Cagayan de Oro, and Boracay.
