ABS-CBN Events and IME announced on Wednesday, February 10, that Regine Velasquez’s Valentine’s concert, Freedom, is postponed.
The organizers explained that Regine had recently been exposed to someone who tested positive for COVID-19. She is currently in quarantine.
“The health and safety of our artist and staff is our priority and we are thankful for your support and understanding,” said the two companies.
Regine recently performed on Sunday variety show ASAP, but a source familiar with the situation said the exposure did not happen over the weekend.
ABS-CBN said tickets for the original date will be honored for the new concert schedule, which they have yet to announce.
In a tweet, the singer said she was okay and that she’d been crying over the postponement. “Sayang yung date natin no. I was so looking forward to it pa naman,” she said.
“But like I said, God has a plan and His plans are always better,” she added.
Regine, dubbed Asia’s Songbird, is among the Philippines’ most beloved singers. She normally holds a Valentines’ Day concert every year but for 2021, she decided to go purely online for Freedom. – Rappler.com
