(SPOT.ph) When Ticketworld announced exclusive priority booking for The Lion King musical in October, tens of thousands of Globe subscribers and Visa cardholders grabbed the opportunity. Tickets were selling out fast as early as the first day for the March 18 premiere. So fans of the hit musical (and the '90s animated film it's based on) would be thrilled to know that the Manila season has been extended to May 6.
"Undeniably, there's a lot of excitement for Disney's The Lion King in Manila and the demand for tickets only continues to grow. We are thrilled to announce that we will be adding two more weeks to the season,” said Joey Verzo, Managing Director of Concertus Manila.
The cast includes talented artists who have performed in previous productions around the world including London, Las Vegas, Shanghai, Basel, Hamburg, Taiwan, Singapore, Mexico, Brazil, and Johannesburg, as well as the United Kingdom and Australia. Joining the company are six actors from the Philippines: Julien Joshua Dolor, Pablo Palacpac, and Juan Gabriel Tiongson for the role of Young Simba, and Sheena Bentoy, Uma Martin, and Felicity Napuli for the role of Young Nala.
The Lion King continues to be one of the most popular stage musicals in the world since its Broadway premiere in 1997. It won six Tony Awards in 1998, including Best Musical, Best Scenic Design, and Best Direction among others. After Manila, the international tour is set to run in Singapore in June, Korea in October, Taiwan in 2019, and South Africa in 2020.
The Lion King runs from March 18 to May 6 at The Theatre at Solaire, Solaire Resort and Casino, 1 Aseana Avenue, Parañaque City. Tickets, priced from P1,900 to P7,250, are available through Ticketworld.
