ONE Championship just added one more World Championship-caliber athlete from the Philippines to its roster.
Former Brave CF bantamweight champion Stephen “The Sniper” Loman signed with The Home of Martial Arts after dominating Brave’s bantamweight division over the past 5 years.
Loman, 28, will be joining his teammates from Team Lakay in ONE, hoping to follow the success of the squad who has amassed 5 world titles since joining the organization in 2011.
“It’s an overwhelming opportunity, but I’m excited to join my Team Lakay brothers in the biggest martial arts organization in the world,” Loman said.
“I’m excited to enhance my skills on this platform and showcase my style to millions of viewers across the globe.”
It’s still unclear which division Loman will land in, whether it’s the flyweight division where the likes of divisional king Adriano “Mikinho” Moraes and top-contender Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson are, or the bantamweight division where longtime world champion Bibiano “The Flash” Fernandes is.
“Of course, fighting in a new promotion and a new environment will be a challenge, but it’s one I’m more than willing to face. I’m ready to show ONE Championship fans the best of Stephen Loman,” he said.
Loman currently holds a 14-2 record and hasn’t tasted defeat in 5 years. He’s currently on an eight match tear, which includes wins over current ONE mainstays like Gurdashan “Saint Lion” Mangat and Mark “Tyson” Fairtex Abelardo.
Team Lakay head coach Mark Sangiao is confident that Loman can bring his winning ways to ONE and maybe become the sixth world title holder from the squad after Honorio “The Rock” Banario, Eduard “Landslide” Folayang, Kevin “The Silencer” Belingon, Geje “Gravity” Eustaquio and reigning ONE Strawweight World Champion Joshua “The Passion” Pacio.
“Stephen Loman is one of the best fighters in the Philippines. His all-around skills will be on full display in ONE Championship,” Sangiao said.
