Archbishop Jose Palma tested positive for COVID-19 Thursday evening, February 18.

Monsignor Joseph Tan, spokesperson of the Archdiocese of Cebu, confirmed this at around 10 am Friday.

The Archbishop is currently under medical care at the Perpetual Succor Hospital in Cebu City.

“The Archbishop remains in stable condition. Let us all pray for his steady and speedy recovery,” said Monsignor Tan, adding that Palma’s contacts have been informed of the matter.

On January 15, the Archbishop was also hospitalized after showing COVID-19 symptoms.

As of February 18, Cebu City’s total active cases have reached 2,864, while recoveries are now at 12,007. 282 new cases were recorded the same day. —Rappler.com
