TOKYO, Japan – A powerful 6.6 magnitude quake hit the northern Japanese island of Hokkaido early Thursday, September 6, the United States Geological Survey said, although no tsunami warning was issued.
The relatively shallow quake struck 62 kilometers (39 miles) southeast of the regional capital Sapporo.
