(SPOT.ph) The opening of a new wing means lots of exciting things to look forward to—for Power Plant Mall, the most anticipated one right now is The Grid, now the mall's resident food hall. Charles Paw of Tasteless and Lowbrow restaurant groups is no stranger to the gastronomic concept. In fact, he's one of the first people to open up a food hall in the Metro, starting with Century City Mall’s Hole In The Wall. But a first look of The Grid reveals that, the two are in entirely different playing fields, design-wise.
“At Hole In the Wall, maganda yung branding [of each stall],” says Paw. “The stores are well-designed and distinct from each other. Here at The Grid, ginawa namin na it’s all about the food. Wala na yung branding per stall. They all look alike, and their only identifiers are what their concepts are and who the chefs behind them are.”
The space, designed by KM Interior Design, does resemble a grid. The stalls, all done in a sleek, minimalist style, are arranged neatly around the space, with EDSA BDG’s bar right in the middle; it’s the star you gravitate to before or after a meal, whether you want some coffee or beer. “Usually kung maganda yung branding, nagiging yun yung mabenta,” says Paw. “We did away with those so when you decide, we want it to be because of the food.”
The sprawling food hall, which can seat up to 320 people, has 15 concepts that pretty much cover anything you could possibly crave, from Thai-style pork chops (a Bad Bird invention) to street tacos, Pinoy porchetta, and tsukemen. You can also look forward to big culinary names like chefs Josh Boutwood, Bruce Ricketts, Patrick Go, and Miko Aspiras, who are opening their own stalls.
The Grid goes for an industrial aesthetic, with a stylish black-and-brass motif.

All food stalls are labeled with their top three signature offerings and the people behind the concept. Aside from these, none of the stalls do not immediately jump out from the rest, keeping the focus on the food.
