(SPOT.ph) Makati is home to a lot of great restaurants and bars that attract plenty of people on a daily basis, more so on weekends. But you might want to reconsider joining them this time around—the City Government of Makati yesterday announced scheduled road closures for the weekend via the Public Safety Department. The traffic advisory states that the section of Makati Avenue from J.P. Rizal Street to Kalayaan Avenue will be closed off to motorists starting at 1 a.m. on Saturday, June 2. There was no specified end date or time. This is to make way for the street party and parades celebrating Makati's 348th Foundation Day, which will be taking place in the afternoon until midnight.

Instead of Makati Avenue, motorists are advised to take the following alternate routes:

  • For all vehicles coming from Guadalupe going to Makati Avenue, Mandaluyong or Manila: Turn left at Villena Street (after Rockwell), then turn right at General Luna Street, then turn left to Mercado Street, then turn right to Kalayaan Avenue, then turn left at Jupiter Street or Gil Puyat to destination.
  • For all vehicles coming from Mandaluyong going to Ayala: Turn left at J.P. Rizal Street, then turn right at Estrella (Rockwell) to destination.

The parade will take place from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. After this, the normal traffic route along J.P. Rizal Street will resume. However, Makati Avenue will remain closed until midnight for the street party.
