(SPOT.ph) Regular Manila-to-Bulacan commuters, we have good news for you! According to the Department of Public Works and Highways, the Bustos section of the Plaridel Bypass Road is finally open. Officially launched for public use on Saturday, May 5, the newly opened road links the Maharlika Highway to the North Luzon Expressway—promising a travel time of only 45 minutes from Manila to Bulacan (and vice versa).

The road's opening marks the completion of Phase II of the Plaridel Bypass Road Project. Stretching up to 24.61 kilometers, the new highway traverses the towns of Bustos and San Rafael in Bulacan. The Phase III of the project is currently in the works and will involve road widening from two lanes to four. Motorists who wish to try out the road should take the Balagtas exit at the North Luzon Expressway (NLEx).

This news also makes for the perfect excuse to go on your next summer road trip, as Bulacan is home to cool, underrated attractions. Fancy a cruise down the San Rafael River or do you prefer a relaxing getaway at this Baliuag resort? Whichever tourist spot it may be, take the Plaridel Bypass Road and you'll be there in no time.
