(SPOT.ph) In a concrete jungle like Bonifacio Global City, you can never have too many pockets of green, whether they’re the small parks hidden amongst the high-rise buildings or a garden-themed oasis that’ll not only give you a much-needed breather, but also fill you up with good food—like Eden Food Hall.

The new 24-hour food hall may overlook busy thoroughfares, but you’ll feel like you’re worlds away at Eden, with homey mostly-white interiors, rattan light fixtures, minimalist quotes on walls, and lots of lush plants. There’s even a swing set that makes for a great photoshoot spot.

The décor takes inspiration from their name, which owner Lufei Lim Chua shares came to her one day at church. “They were talking about the Book of Genesis and the Garden of Eden,” she shares. “And I thought ‘Hey, that’s a good name.’ Because God provided Eden as a place for us to eat, and in this space, I also want you to be able to go here and eat well without paying much.”

Lufei and her co-owner Denise Chua gathered regulars from Mercato Centrale, Legazpi Market, and Salcedo Market, making it easier to discover new finds, or to come back for weekend-market favorites without having to wait for a whole week to pass. “We wanted something curated and special,” says Lufei. “We didn’t want to just have the same old brands. We want people to come back for something new.”

There are 11 food stalls at Eden Food Hall, ranging from Asian favorites like Thai and Japanese, to pizza, wings, and even comforting lugaw.

Catfish With Mango Salad

Chang Thai

Run by Thai chef Aof Suwannalert and her husband Carlo, Chang Thai was a favorite at Legazpi Market for their straightforward yet tasty Thai dishes. A full order of the Catfish With Mango Salad (P200/whole, P120/half) is surprisingly filling, with fresh greens, sweet mangoes, crispy catfish flakes and a lip-smacking sweet-salty dressing. But if you’re looking for rice, get the Thai Bagoong Rice With Pork (P165), offering a wide spectrum of flavors from the flavorful rice to sweet glazed pork chunks, chopped chili, and dried shrimp. Be sure to check out the dainty floral art on their cabinet, painted by chef Aof herself!

Takoyaki

JD’s Takoyaki

Though they only offer takoyaki at Mercato Centrale, JD’s is a hit—unsurprising, when you have the plump balls that burst with enjoyable creaminess and lots of umami. At Eden’s, they expand their menu beyond Takoyaki (P80) with filling rice bowls like Katsudon (P140).

Bakmi Goreng

Bakmi Nyonya

Also from Mercato, Bakmi Nyonya offers an extensive menu of Indonesian classics, ranging from appetizers to desserts, all from the recipes of Indonesian home cook Lucy Garcia. Her dishes are homey but are also chockful of spices, like the Bakmi Goreng (P170), the traditional stir-fried noodles with the familiar addicting savory flavor. Or, for a hefty meal, have the Nasi Goreng (P160), Indonesian fried rice that pairs well with the spicy Beef Rendang (P185).

Bulacan's Special Crispy Pata

Bulacan Lugaw Kitchen

As their name suggests, Bulacan Lugaw Kitchen’s specialty is the hearty Lugaw (P50, P70/with egg, P80/with tokwa) or savory rice porridge, with a strong gingery taste that adds a level of comfort. But, you’ll be surprised to learn that you can get much more here, like Bulacan’s Special Crispy Pata (P680), which arrives as a whole golden-fried pork leg in front of you. Dig in the crisp, succulent pork skin and juicy meat, and think of the calories later.

Gyoza

Suki-Gyouza

Suki-Gyouza may only offer one item, but if it’s excellent enough to hold its own, then why not let it shine? The Gyoza (P55/four pieces, P75/six pieces, P140/12 pieces) have that firm bite, a slightly charred and smoky bottom, and are packed full of porky goodness. Have them on their own, pair them with rice, or even buy frozen ones you can snack on at home.

Warm Belgian Waffle With Caramel Drizzle

The Dessert Kitchen

The folks behind Bellefleur at Unimart, Greenhills bring their decadent cupcakes and cookies to BGC with The Dessert Kitchen. But what’ll blow your mind here is their milk-tea soft serve. Made with tea leaves brewed daily, the soft serve has the unmistakable sweet-earthiness of tea with the creaminess of milk—it really tastes like the drink but in a different form. Have the Classic Milk Tea (P90/solo cup) or Thai Milk Tea (P90/solo cup) on top of the buttery Warm Belgian Waffle With Caramel Drizzle (P60) for the ultimate feel-good drink for tea lovers.
