(SPOT.ph) Every movie buff's fingers have probably been crossed ever since it was announced that the people behind Citizen Jake are aiming to get a nationwide release by submitting the film to the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board for review. After all, Citizen Jake's sponsored public screenings were sold out and fans have been clamoring for a chance to see award-winning auteur Mike de Leon's comeback film after 19 years—and possibly his last one

On Citizen Jake's official Facebook page, de Leon has been assuring fans that there'll be updates about the film's release, whether it be good or bad news. Now, in another Facebook post shared today, April 11, he once again thanks the public for their support for the film, especially since the movie has finally received an R-13 rating. "We would like to express our deepest gratitude to all those who have supported and are still supporting Citizen Jake. May the film now be allowed to reach a wider audience," he says.

There's no word yet on when and where the nationwide release will be. In the meantime, moviegoers can head over to another sponsored screening of the film at University of the Philippines - Los Baños on April 13. Ticket prices are yet to be announced.
