(SPOT.ph) When’s the perfect time to eat breakfast? We say anytime. People’s love for classic morning food never dies, and that’s one good reason the Metro is great for breakfast heads—there’s never a shortage of places to try when you’ve got those early-morning or late-afternoon hankerings. And if you find yourself around Pasig and San Juan, here are some all-day breakfast places you can’t miss.
If your idea of a perfect breakfast are pastries and coffee, you’ll adore Bakere Café. The joint started out as a bakeshop that sold yummy homemade pastries like cupcakes and ensaymada, but the family behind the coffee shop figured they wanted to branch out and offer their well-loved creations, and even new dishes to boot. To see what we mean, have a serving of their BXU Rice (P290), a filling rice bowl that features delectable Butuan lechon. But if you’re craving something on the lighter side, you can’t go wrong with their all-time favorite Grilled Ensaymada Sandwich with Chocolate (P185).
Bakere Café is at 3 Brixton Street, Kapitolyo, Pasig City.
We get it. Sometimes it’s not enough that a café has all your favorites—they also have to be IG-worthy enough to really get you in the zone. And that’s what you’ll find at Flossom Kitchen + Café. The brunch spot has garden-themed interiors, so the whole place really just invites you to come and indulge. And speaking of indulge, get a load of the Ultimate English Breakfast (P650), a huge plate with all kinds of breakfast favorites like pancakes, baguettes, ham, and bacon. We’re also pretty sure their Ube Champorado (P280) will be our next favorite thing, too!
Flossom Kitchen + Café is at G/F Flossom Place, N. Averilla Street, San Juan City.
Kanto Freestyle Breakfast
Craving some no-fail breakfast food without all the frills (and the hefty price tag)? For your daily dose of straightforward morning dishes, Kanto Freestyle Breakfast is the way to go. You’ll find all your favorites here and then some. You can’t go wrong with their Vigan Longganisa (P95) or New Zealand Beef Tapa (P110). But for a true DIY breakfast experience, Kanto also lets you build your own breakfast plate!
Kanto Freestyle Breakfast is at 549 San Joaquin Street, Barangay Plainview, Mandaluyong City.
Main Street continues to give us a taste of Canadian cuisine with a dash of inspiration from Seattle. Everything they serve is their own version of comfort meals, so the only challenge you’ll have here is deciding what to get. For starters, you can try the Classic Eggs Benny (P300), an English muffin served with two poached eggs, Applewood smoked Canadian bacon, and hollandaise sauce with a side of roasted herb potatoes. For a more adventurous route, go for their Breakfast Pizza (P260) that puts bacon, eggs, and hash browns on your go-to snack: Pizza!
Main Street is at 10 East Capitol Drive, Kapitolyo, Pasig City.
Angel’s Kitchen
In case you haven’t seen this cozy little café whenever you’re around Greenhills, you might want to look twice. Angel’s Kitchen whips up homemade breakfast food that’s perfect for when you’re in the mood for something with a touch of home. Just have a taste of their popular dishes: Wagyu Beef Tapa (P428), Homemade Corned Beef Chunks (P388), and Baked Bangus Tinapa (P388), each served with a hefty side of garlic rice and eggs. We're sure that these dishes will hit all the right spots.
Angel’s Kitchen is at 57 Connecticut Street, Greenhills, San Juan City.
Love Monday Café is dedicated to changing your mind about (what’s probably) your least favorite day of the week. The place has a romantic but playful feel to it, so anyone with an old soul will be quick to fall in love. And if you’re head over heels with the place’s chill vibe, just get a load of their menu. The Spamghetti (P180) is a playful take on spaghetti, highlighting the goodness of Spam, melted cheese, and pasta all rolled into one. If you’re looking for an interesting dish to try, have their Breakfast Taco (P180), served with scrambled eggs, tomato salsa, and peppery beef tapa—that you can ask to be replaced with either garlic longganisa or bacon!
Love Monday Café is at San Rafael Street, Barangay Kapitolyo, Pasig City.
Craft Coffee Revolution
Aside from being a favorite coffee joint of many, Craft Coffee Revolution also makes for a great place for when you need your breakfast fix. We’re particularly eyeing their Craft Breakfast (P240), a hearty dish of bacon and ham served with two eggs and a side of garlic rice. Their Omelette Breakfast (P190), a Spam omelette with wheat bread, also looks too good to pass up. Pro-tip: If you order from their all-day breakfast menu any time in the morning, you get to choose between a free Americano or espresso shot!
Craft Coffee Revolution has branches at 8 Missouri Street, North East Greenhills, San Juan City; and Estancia Mall, Capitol Commons, Pasig City.
If you feel like treating yourself to a top-notch brunch, then put Wildflour in your list. They’ve been serving up excellent dishes and pastries since their opening in BGC back in 2012, and their evolving menu gives you a reason to fall in love with it all over again. You can indulge in their Wildflour Breakfast (P460), which comes with eggs, crispy potatoes, and a choice of homemade breakfast sausage or bacon steak. For something that’s both delicious and healthy, try the Chia Bowl (P380), with fresh fruits, honey, and almonds served with almond and coconut milk.
Wildflour Café + Bakery is at G/F O-Square Building, Greenhills Shopping Center, Ortigas Avenue corner Wilson Street, Greenhills, San Juan City.
Cops and Robbers
Being a stone’s throw away from Xavier School, you can bet that Cops and Robbers is a popular hangout for students—but that doesn’t mean you can’t get a taste of their must-try meals if you’re around the area. You can delight in some of their bestsellers, like their Adobo Flakes (P195), Chicken Fingers (P120) with saffron rice, and even the go-to Four Cheese Sandwich (P130) served with their homemade chips. No matter what you order, you’re bound to feel like you’re in high school again, munching on your favorite merienda with your friends.
Cops and Robbers is at 81 Xavier Street, Greenhills, San Juan City
You don’t have to go all the way to Makati to sample some of Bluesmith’s gourmet takes on everyday comfort dishes. There are so many things you can order off their menu, but for the breakfast lover who has a sweet tooth, you might not want to miss their mouthwatering waffles: Blueberry Cheesecake (P240) and Dark Choco Churro (P220).
Bluesmith Coffee is at 2/F Ayala Malls The 30th, 30 Meralco Avenue, Pasig City.
