THE CHEONG GYE CHEON RIVER
In the KPOP mother city that is Seoul, the architectures and the designs are as stylized and refined as its idols. Yet aesthetically messy city for more than 20 years after the massive reconstruction during the Presidency of Syngman Rhee between 1948 and 1960, the city had to meet the need of a city freshly got out of the Korea War. The capital city was in the emergency to restart to work and produce an economy to rebuild the country.
This is why a convenient raised road was built above the river Cheong Gye Cheon despite its importance and the stream was hid for several decades. After this hard period, in 1990 the new mayor of Seoul: Lee Myung Bak decided to destroy the road and set the river free again. A project that cost 280 millions of dollars to the city and required 120 000 tons of water to bring back to life the river that nearly completely dried.
In 2005 finally, the Cheong Gye Cheon river long of 6 kilometres and used a lot to practice running and that goes from the East to the West of Seoul to join the Jung Nan Cheon was opened to the public and is still considered as a great natural architecture achievement. Put forward nowadays through various events like the Lunar New Year, the Chuseok Holidays or again the Christmas period, it results in particularly beautiful views and shows that stay in the spectator's memories.
