(SPOT.ph) It's a sad day for history buffs and bread lovers alike as Kamuning Bakery Café was gutted by a fire today, February 6, in the wee hours of the morning. According to a report by GMA News, while initial investigations show that the fire began in the bakery's second-floor stockroom, authorities speculate that it may have been caused by an earlier fire in the same neighborhood, which was thought to have been put out the previous night. Owner Wilson Lee Flores confirms this on his Facebook page, saying that "The 79-year old bakery Kamuning Bakery [is] burning from neighbor's fire," and also confirms that all bakers and staff were evacuated.

Kamuning Bakery, first established in the 1930s, is Quezon City's first bakery. It was the city's community hub until its first owner passed away, putting the property up for sale. Wilson Lee Flores then purchased the bakery, bringing it back to its former glory and also adding a café where diners can enjoy freshly baked bread and their signature Pan de Suelo. Kamuning Bakery has proven time and time again that they can rise up better than before, but for now, we'll sorely miss their pan de sal.
