(SPOT.ph) Ang Larawan has been getting lots of buzz for the quality of its production and its songs—which, incidentally, are going viral. What’s also notable about the film are the impressive performances from the star-studded cast, including veteran Joanna Ampil, who won Best Actress in a Leading Role at the Metro Manila Film Festival 2017. But another standout performer was Paulo Avelino, who admits he was intimidated when he found out he got the role of Tony Javier, a vaudeville performer who would end up complicating the lives of two sisters.

But Lea Salonga praised the actor for his first musical role and even called him “one of the greatest.”

Paulo then reacted to Lea’s praise, saying that while he was in doubt of his performance because of the singing, inspiring messages like that of Lea's make him want to take on more difficult roles.
Ang Larawan is a movie-musical based on Nick Joaquin's A Portrait of the Artist as Filipino. The film is about two sisters who are struggling financially because their father, a renowned artist, hasn't produced paintings in some time. Paulo Avelino's character Tony is a boarder whom the sisters take in for extra income.
