(SPOT.ph) After making waves at the Cinema One Originals Film Festival in 2017—where it won eight awards including “Best Director,” “Best Actor,” “Best Actress,” “Best Music,” and “Audience Choice Award”—movie-musical Changing Partners is once again set to hit local theaters when it screens nationwide on January 31.
The story revolves around Alex and Cris, a couple with a significant age gap between them. But even more interesting is that Alex and Cris’ genders switch throughout the story. There are times when they are both men and other times when they are both women. Sometimes, one of them is a man and the other, a woman. But throughout (and despite) these changes, the story of Alex and Cris remains the same: they’re trying to keep a dying relationship alive.
Agot Isidro and Jojit Lorenzo play Alex while Anna Luna and Sandino Martin play Cris. Based on a Palanca-winning play by Vincent de Jesus, Changing Partners was first staged at Virgin Labfest in 2016 and then again at PETA in October that same year. The film, helmed by Dan Villegas (Walang Forever, English Only, Please, The Breakup Playlist), was also recently graded A by the Cinema Evaluation Board.
