(SPOT.ph) They say that the color green can actually soothe the mind and calm anyone down. Living in the city can wear you down, which is why you should take a breather sometimes and enjoy the great outdoors. But for those moments when you just can’t go on a nature trip, you can always head over to some garden-inspired restaurants in the Metro. We’ve found some good-looking spots that can be the perfect backdrop for your next brunch date.

James & Daughters

If you’ve ever visited their sister-restaurant, Le Jardin Café, you’ll know that piling on the fresh blooms and plants is something the owners enjoy doing. It’s easy to feel relaxed at James & Daughters because of their stress-free ambience. Look up and you’ll see boxes of hanging plants, while cute flower pots are propped on each table.

Must-tries: Seared Togarashi Tuna (P495), Softshell Crab Tempura (P475)

James & Daughters is at G/F The Westin Residences Manila Sonata, 21st Drive, Bonifacio Global City.

IKOMAI & TOCHI

When you’re here, take time to appreciate the contemporary restaurant’s carefully curated, minimalist interiors reminiscent of a Zen, Japanese garden. Walk past the tables and you’ll reach their little lanai, which is surrounded by lush green walls. This place is just the thing for anyone who’s hankering for a break from the noise and clutter of the Metro.

Must-tries: Moriawase (P450), Tuna Ikomai Taco (P180), High Ball (P220)

IKOMAI & TOCHI is at G/F ACI Group Building, 147 H.V. Dela Costa Street, Salcedo Village, Makati City.

Phat Buddha

You know you’ve reached White Plains when you start seeing a lot of garden-supply shops. Phat Buddha blends in so well with its neighbors that you might actually mistake it for a gardening store. From the outside of the Viet-Chinese restaurant, you’ll see big vases of lush greenery. Step inside and you’ll see a couple more! Meanwhile, their dishes are heavy on greens, too—the edible kind, though.

Must-tries: Char Siu Roll (P335), Bun Bo Hue Hotpot (P395)

Phat Buddha is at 42 Katipunan Avenue, White Plains, Quezon City.

Sagana Epicerie and Bistro

When Chef Marc Aubry opened Sagana, he wanted Filipinos to feel at ease with French cuisine by using all-local ingredients. It also helps that the French restaurant’s interiors are easy on the eyes, with live plants hanging from the ceiling and succulents in delicate ceramic pots on each table.

Must-tries: Market Menu (P700/three courses)

Sagana Epicerie and Bistro is at G/F Net One Center, 3rd Avenue corner 26th Street, Bonifacio Global City.

The Alley by Vikings

At the center of The Alley’s sprawling space is a big faux tree whose branches are decorated with pretty light fixtures. It’s safe to say this new buffet by Vikings is unlike any you’ve seen—interiors-wise, that is. It’s not stuffy nor does it have a box-like layout, while the indoor plants add to its flowy, garden-like vibe.

Must-tries: Monte Calvo, O'Sean 11, Pandan Chicken (Buffet rates start at P688)

The Alley by Vikings is at 2/F Phase 2, UP Town Center, Katipunan Avenue, Quezon City.

Flossom Kitchen + Café

For people who just can’t get enough of pretty things—think pastel furniture and murals, fresh flowers, neon lights—Flossom Kitchen + Café could be your new favorite hangout. Not only that, but their large windows provide just enough natural light, ideal for getting that perfect shot of their likewise IG-worthy food. Their “flower wall,” where multi-colored blossoms are arranged neatly against a plain-gray wall, is designed by events stylist Teddy Manuel.

Must-tries: Ube Champorado (P280), Buffalo Mac & Cheese (P320)

Flossom Kitchen + Café is at G/F Flossom Place, N. Averilla Street, San Juan City.

Mulberry Door

It’s the little details that count. At least that’s what owner, Trish Panlilio of nawwTy’s Kitchen, tells us. Despite being located in the busy neighborhood of Burgos Circle, Mulberry Door gives its customers a sort of serenity whenever they dine in. And how can you not feel calm when you’re surrounded by elegant couches, stately wood furniture, and fresh plants and flowers?

Must-tries: Matteo's Lamb Burger (P550), Flan by nawwTy's Kitchen (P120)

Mulberry Door is at 26th Street, G/F Forbes Town Center, Burgos Circle, Taguig City.

Sibyullee

For a Korean-barbecue joint, Sibyullee sure looks dainty and bright. Thank their pastel-colored décor and garden-fresh plants scattered all over the restaurant, which is designed by C + Y Design Studio. It wouldn't be surprising if you end up staring at their cool interiors while waiting for your order to arrive!

Must-tries: Galbi Cheese BBQ (P950), Volcano Kimchi Fried Rice (P499)

Sibyullee is at G/F Ayala Malls The 30th, Merlaco Avenue, Pasig City.

Bistro United

Bistro United is definitely up there if we’re talking about restaurants with a relaxing atmosphere. This garden-themed restaurant boasts a green wall laden with plants. Their contemporary Filipino interiors are also mostly on the neutral-brown side, making you feel like you’re just hanging out at a pretty, open-air veranda in the middle of the city.

Must-tries: Crispy Ribs with Bone Marrow Rice (P295), Tilapia Ice Cream (P175)

Bistro United is at D-Strip Building, 20 United Street, Kapitolyo, Pasig City.

Blocleaf Café

Here’s another place where you can be surrounded by greenery even indoors. At Blocleaf Café, handcrafted brews and homemade pastries aren’t the only things to look forward to. Despite the minimalist coffee shop’s limited space, their floor-to-ceiling windows provide a lot of sunshine, inviting you to hang out...or maybe even set up an out-of-office work area for the day.

Must-tries: Ham & Cheese Panini (P220), Longganisa Pasta (P190)

Blocleaf Café is at 1850 M.H. Del Pilar Street, Malate, Manila City.
